10 months jail for man who cuffed Police Sergeant

A man was on Wednesday sentenced to 10 months behind bars after cuffing a Police Sergeant while being arrested at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Seon Prince appeared before Magistrate Rushelle Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court and pleaded guilty to the charge.

He admitted that on May 31, 2022, at Plaisance, ECD, he assaulted a Peace Officer who was acting in the execution of his duties.

Reports are that on the day in question, Prince was arrested and was placed in the back of the police vehicle.

While there, he dealt the Sergeant a cuffed to his face, causing him to fall from the back of the vehicle.

In a video widely circulated on social media, the Sergeant, after being cuffed, could have seen barely managing to regain balance.
