14 year old robbed by armed bandit in New Amsterdam supermarket

Police in Berbice are on the hunt for a man who attacked and robbed a 14-year-old student of $50,000 cash and several other items during a bracing daylight robbery at a store located at Chapel Street New Amsterdam earlier today.

Regional Commander, Shivpersaud Bacchus confirmed the incident and disclosed that the 14 -year-old student of Glasgow Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice, was attacked at about 12:30 by an identifiable male who was armed with a handgun.

He said the suspect went into the shop, picked up a few items from the shelves, and proceeded to the 14-year-old cashier, where he pulled out a handgun and pointed same at the student, demanding the cash which was handed over.

MTV News Update understands that the suspect made good his escape with the items and $50,000, in the eastern direction on a red bicycle.

Investigations are ongoing.
