17-year-old arrested over John’s Public Road fatal accident
A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with the fatal accident on John’s Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice, that resulted in the death of Deonarine Budram, a labourer from Rose Hall Town.
Commander Shivpersaud Bacchus confirmed this. MTV News Update had reported that Budram was walking east along the northern side of John’s Public Road when he was struck by a motor pickup with registration number GNN 4363.
The driver of the vehicle was heading west on the southern side of the road. Police had said that the driver lost control of the pickup, leading to a collision with Budram. The impact propelled Budram westward onto the roadway, where he collided with a bus shed on the northern side.
Following the collision, the pickup swerved into a nearby drain, and the driver fled the scene immediately. Budram was discovered unconscious by a public-spirited citizen who transported him to the Port Mourant Public Hospital.
He was pronounced dead on arrival, and his body was taken to the Ramoo Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
