18-year-old among four remanded over spate of armed robberies in Berbice

Four individuals, including an 18-year-old, have been remanded to prison in connection with a spate of armed robberies in Region Six.


Those charged are Bryan Sundatt, called ‘Adjai,’ an 18-year-old labourer of Port Mourant, Corentyne; Nathanel Latchmna, also known as ‘Nate,’ a 20-year-old labourer of Lot 1 ‘A’ Hampshire, Corentyne; Sahil Hardin, called ‘Paper,’ a 24-year-old porter of Lot 8 Nigg Road, Corentyne; and Jousha Beharry, called ‘Funkout,’ a 24-year-old labourer of Hampshire Squatting Area, Corentyne.


The suspects were arrested during an intelligence-led operation conducted by a Detective Inspector on January 29, 2025.


The four accused appeared before Magistrate Tuanna Hardy at the Whim Magistrate's Court, where the charge of robbery under arms was read to them. They were all remanded to prison, and the case was adjourned to February 28, 2025.


Meanwhile, Beharry, Latchmna, and Sundatt were also charged with armed robbery committed against three individuals on January 22, 2025, at Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice.


The three accused appeared before Magistrate Michelle Mathias at the Albion Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to them. They were not required to plead and were all remanded to prison. This case was also adjourned to February 28.


In addition, Beharry was slapped with a separate charge of robbery under arms, committed against a 39-year-old businesswoman from Nigg Village, Corentyne, Berbice. He allegedly robbed her of $300,000 in cash and other items valued at $1.5 million.

 

He appeared before Magistrate Mathias at the Albion Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plead and was remanded to prison. This case was postponed to February 4, 2025, for reports.


Furthermore, Beharry was charged with another count of robbery under arms, committed against a 31-year-old female domestic worker from Fyrish Long Dam, Corentyne, Berbice. He allegedly stole $15,000 in cash and a cellular phone valued at $41,000.


He appeared before Magistrate Mathias at the Albion Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plead and was remanded to prison. This case was also postponed to February 4, 2025, for reports.
