19-year-old stabbed to death by man he reportedly assaulted & robbed weeks ago

A 19-year-old man was on Thursday fatally stabbed by a 31-year-old man he had allegedly beaten and robbed several weeks ago.

Dead is Orlando Samaroo of Lot 439 Belle West, West Bank Demerara (WBD). The incident occurred on Thursday at Belle West Phase Two.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that Samaroo and the 31-year-old suspect, who is a miner, had a past confrontation. It is alleged that the now-dead man had beaten and robbed the 31-year-old suspect several weeks ago.

Following that incident, the Police said that the duo had several misunderstandings. Nevertheless, on Thursday at about 14:00h, Samaroo was reportedly sitting under a bus shed in Belle West in the company of several men when the suspect, armed with a knife, approached him.

Reports are that the suspect held onto Samaroo’s jersey and stabbed him several times in his abdomen. He subsequently escaped the scene on foot.

The 19-year-old was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was admitted as a patient. He was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 10:00 h on Friday. Police are hunting for the suspect as the investigation continues.
