The Ministry of Education on Friday afternoon signed contracts totalling $198.9 million for the construction two annexes.
The annexes will be housed at the Queen’s College and the Bishops' High School.
The contract signed for the Bishops' annex was $95.4 million and is expected to be completed within 11 months while the construction of the annex at Queen’s College will cost 103.5 million. This project is expected to be completed within one year.
The contracts were awarded to Mohabir Construction and Ograsein and Sons respectively.
The contracts were signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Alfred King in the Ministry’s boardroom.
At the contract signing ceremony, Chief Education Officer (CEO), Dr Marcel Hutson said this is part of the ministry’s efforts to ensure students receive an education in a safe comfortable environment.
The contractors were reminded that to ensure quality work within the stipulated time frame. Also present were the Headmistresses for both schools.
