A 20-year-old man was today granted $30,000 bail after being charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Tyreek Henry appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was charged for having 31 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
He was granted $30,000 bail for a charge which alleges that on January 21, 2022, at Water Street Stabroek, Georgetown, he had in his possession 31 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
The court heard that on January 21, 2022, ranks from the Police Special Branch, Impact Patrol, and CID Brickdam Police Station carried out a raid at the Stabroek Market area where several people and stalls were searched.
During the exercise, Henry was stopped and searched and 23 zip-lock plastic bags containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis were unearthed in his pocket.
He was then told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested, and taken to Brickdam Police Station, where he was later charged. He is expected to make another court appearance on February 21.
