20-year-old arrested with marijuana at Providence

A 20-year-old man was arrested by Police in the wee hours of this morning after being found with 71.3 grams of suspected cannabis at Red Road, Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Reports are that ranks who were on patrol in the area observed a male, who is known to them, acting suspiciously.

Two of the ranks exited the vehicle and conducted a search on the man. During the search, a black bulky plastic bag was found with a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.

He was told of the offense committed, cautioned, and arrested. The 20-year-old, who is unemployed, was escorted to the Providence Police Station along with the suspected narcotics, where it was weighed in his presence and amounted to 71.3 grams. He is in custody pending charges.
