The Ministry of Agriculture on Tuesday signed a 25M contract for the construction of an agro-processing facility to be constructed in White Water Creek, Region One (1).
The contract was awarded to Supreme Contracting & Services. Some 350 households and 67 persons who are directly involved in agro-processing will benefit from this facility.
This contract has a timeline of three months and the Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha said this was a commitment made by the government.
“White Water is an area that we’ve made a commitment there to the farmers to build this agro-processing facility […] whilst we’re awarding the contract now, we’ve already started procuring equipment for the agro-processing facility,” Mustapha stated.
Meanwhile, a $21M contract was awarded to E&A Consultants for the supervision of the construction of a Pump Station at Charity. The consultants will also provide flood control for approximately 400 families and farmers by draining 200 acres of farm lands for cultivation of cash crops.
A $18M contract was awarded to CEMCO Inc for the supervision of the Construction of A-Line Sluice.
In addition, $96M was awarded to Cyril Singh Agricultural Enterprise Lots 1,2,4 and 5 for the supply and delivery of fertilisers to NAREI.
Minister Mustapha made it clear that these projects must be completed within the specified timeframe. “I want contractors to ensure that they do their work, do it according to the specifications, and also execute it on a timely basis because people are looking forward," he stressed.
