Adventure accident: Driver remanded on death by dangerous driving charge

A man accused of causing the death of 63-year-old Ameer Ally, called ‘Greens Boy’ in a hit-and-run accident on the Adventure Public Road, was on Monday remanded to prison.


35-year-old Ganesh Choonilall of Airy Hall, Essequibo Coast. It is alleged that on September 15, at Adventure Public Road, Essequibo Coast, he drove motorcar PWW 2293 in a manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the death of Ally.


He was also charged for failing to stop at an accident scene and failing to render assistance to the victim. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded to prison until September 23, 2022.


MTV News Update previously reported that Choonilall was driving motorcar PWW 2293 at an alleged fast rate of speed when he collided with the 63-year-old man, who was walking at the corner of the road.


As a result of the collision, the man fell onto the roadway. He was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
