Agricola man remanded to prison on armed robbery charge
A 29-year-old man, who is no stranger to the court, was on Wednesday remanded to prison after being slapped with an armed robbery charge.
Curtis Vasconscellos of Lot 52 1st Street Agricola, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was hauled before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court.
He had denied the charge, which stated that while being armed on October 2, 2022, at Herstelling, EBD, he robbed Yudistir Hardeen of $420,000 in cash.
Following the robbery, Vasconscellos made good his escape but was arrested eight days later.
After being refused bail, the Magistrate adjourned the matter to November 4, 2022, for statement and report.
In February 2021, Vasconscellos was granted $150,000 bail after being slapped with a robbery under arms charge.
Moreover, in 2016, Vasconscellos and Orwyn Peters were committed to stand trial in the High Court for attempted murder committed on Neezam Khan.
