Alleged child rapist remanded on ganja, firearm-related charges
Hansi Jones, 27, who was recently arrested after being wanted by police for three counts of child rape, has been remanded to prison on marijuana possession and firearm-related charges.
Jones of Lot 111 Mitchel Street, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was hauled before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce in the Diamond/ Grove Magistrates’ Court.
He was charged with possession of a firearm, ammunition, and components without being the holder of a license.
He was also charged with possession of 160 grams of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. He pleaded not guilty to all charges when they were read to him.
As a result, he was remanded to prison and is slated to make another court appearance on November 25, 2024, for statements.
The 27-year-old man and 26-year-old Ghanie Jamie were arrested on October 26, 2024, at Kairuni Backdam on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway with the gun, ammunition and marijuana. Jamie was wanted for murder.
