The Guyana Amazon Warrior Men and Women will be in action on Saturday as both teams aim to lift the Championship trophy for the first time.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors, led by Shimron Hetmyer, will begin their pursuit of the 2022 Hero Caribbean Premier League Championship trophy on Saturday.

After ten years the five time finalists are the only CPL franchise, aside from the St. Lucia Kings, are the only two active franchises to have never lifted the title.

The Warriors begin their campaign against the Jamaica Tallawahs, who currently lead the standings after a 47 run victory over the defending champions, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors Women are playing in the first-ever historic women’s CPL against two other franchises, Trinbago Knight Riders Women and Barbados Royals Women.

The Warrior Women’s first match got off to a damp start when they were rained out against the Knight Riders in Basseterre.

After a delayed start, the Knight Riders scraped 105 runs before the match was abandoned.

This result means the points are shared between the two teams which means the Knight Riders now lead the standings, having defeated the Barbados Royals on Wednesday.

The final group game for the women takes place on Saturday between the Amazon Warriors and Barbados Royals as the teams seek to qualify for Sunday’s final.
