APNU+AFC has ‘nothing to fear’ about Commission of Inquiry- Gary Best

Executive Member of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Gary Best on Wednesday affirmed that the party has nothing to fear about the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) into the March 2020 elections.

“This Commission of Inquiry is into the general election not into the PNCR, not into the coalition it is about the entire electoral process. It will have to be calling persons from the PPP, the WPA and all the party.”

He continued “if this is only an inquiry only by which they will be calling only persons from the PNCR then obviously it becomes a witch hunt.”

Best maintains that the exact result published by the APNU+AFC in the last elections will be the exact one derived from the COI but said he sees “no value for the Commission of Inquiry.”

“We are prepared to attend the commission of inquiry if it is force on us and present the evidence robustly through our attorney and demonstrate that the coalition and the People National Congress Reform did not commit the errors and the accusations laid against it,” Best told a press conference on Wednesday.

The series of accusations mentioned above by Best is that from the PPP/C.

The 2020 elections were marred by controversy with some officials from the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) attempting to (declare???) A Partnership For National Unity + Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) the winner.

After five months, and much drama the PPP/C was finally declared winners and sworn into office.

A number of GECOM officials are already before the courts facing misconduct in public office charges.
