The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has launched an investigation into an alleged incident where a firearm was discharged in Agricola, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

The incident, which occurred on the morning of December 21, 2024, reportedly involved 24-year-old Keion Heyligar and his 23-year-old brother, Kemuel Heyligar, both residents of Second Street Agricola.

According to police reports, the alleged suspect is 25-year-old Elijah Lall, an unemployed resident of First Street Agricola, who is being sought in connection with the incident.

Initial investigations revealed that Keion, who operates a wash bay on First Street Agricola, requested the suspect to move his motor car bearing registration number PAG 4004 to facilitate the entry of a truck into the wash bay.

This request reportedly led to an argument after the suspect insisted Keion wait. During the exchange, Keion allegedly insulted the suspect by calling him an “Aunty man.”

The suspect then left the scene on a motorcycle but returned shortly after. Witnesses allege that he parked the motorcycle, retrieved a firearm from his waist, and discharged three rounds in Keion’s direction. Fortunately, none of the shots hit the victim.

Kemuel, who witnessed the incident, reportedly armed himself with a cutlass and approached the suspect. However, the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Keion later reported the matter to the Ruimveldt Police Station, prompting police to process the scene. No spent shells were recovered, and preliminary interviews were conducted with persons in the area.

The Police noted that efforts to locate the suspect have so far been unsuccessful, but the investigation remains ongoing.
