Bail refused for man who stole clothes, cosmetics from businessman


Charged: Andrew Vincent

A 25-year-old man has been slapped with a simple larceny charge and remanded to prison.


Andrew Vincent of Lot 19 Leonora, West Coast Demerara (WCD), was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrates’ Court.


According to the particulars of the charge, Vincent, on November 11, 2022, allegedly stole one Huawei cellphone, $455 Suriname currency, and a quantity of clothes and cosmetics from Weiming Yu.


After the charge was read to him, the Administration Justice Act (AJA) was applied, and he pleaded not guilty. Notwithstanding, bail was refused, and he was remanded to prison.


The matter was adjourned to December 2, 2022, for statements. Based on reports, Vincent allegedly committed the act on the businessman between 1:30h and 2:00h at Princess Ramada Hotel.
