39-year-old Lexroy Garraway, called “Bam-Bam,” who is accused of fatally stabbing his drinking buddy today pleaded guilty to the crime when he appeared in Suddie High Court.
Garraway admitted that on May 22, 2019, at Takutu Landing, Puruni Road, Mazaruni River, he unlawfully killed Erick Nurse, called “Black-Boy.”
Sentencing for Garraway has been deferred until March 8.
According to the facts presented in court, on the day in question, Garraway and Nurse were at a shop consuming alcohol when Garraway got up and went into a room occupied by a woman.
The woman raised an alarm and Nurse, upon hearing the woman’s cries, went to her rescue and dragged Garraway out of the room.
The two then got into a scuffle and Garraway pulled out a knife from the waist of his pants and stabbed Nurse several times about his face and upper body. The injured man was then rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The matter was then reported, an investigation was carried out, and Garraway was arrested. Garraway was previously released from prison after serving a two-year sentence for wounding a man.
