Bandit shot by accomplice during robbery at Soesdyke
A bandit was this morning shot by his accomplice during a heist on a supermarket at Soesdyke-Linden Highway Junction.
According to the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the incident occurred at about 02:30h by three males, one armed with a handgun.
The CCU said the supermarket’s proprietor was awakened after hearing a loud banging from the door, followed by a gunshot noise.
Upon investigating, the businessman saw a male whose face was covered with a mask, lying in front of the door with blood coming from his head. The two other suspects then ran out of the building, and escaped.
“The police were subsequently informed, and the suspect was then taken to the Diamond Hospital for treatment, where he is presently under police guard,” the statement said.
One 9MM spent shell was recovered at the scene as the investigation continues.
