Bartica miner remanded for attempted murder of ‘Cookie’

Burnette Daniels, a 28-year-old miner from Bartica, appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed in the Bartica Magistrate's Court today to face a charge of attempted murder.

The charge alleges that Daniels attempted to murder Leroy Gobin, also known as ‘Cookie,’ during an incident on October 4, 2024, at Dogg Point, Bartica, Essequibo River.

Daniels was not required to plead to the indictable charge. After the court proceedings, Magistrate Mohammed remanded him to prison.

The matter has been adjourned to December 19, 2024, for further proceedings.
