Body of NYPD Officer recovered

Three days after 43-year-old Gladstone Haynes went missing while swimming below the Orinduik Falls, his body has been recovered, Police said on Wednesday.

According to the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), Haynes's body was found at about 06:30h this morning.

Investigations carried out by the GPF revealed that Haynes and his 34-year-old children's mother, Vanessa Alicia Vassell were on tour from Ogle Airport to Kaieteur Falls and then to Orinduik Falls, along with other tourists.

Haynes allegedly drowned on October 30, 2022, at about 15:00h while celebrating Vassell’s birthday.

He was swimming below the Orinduik Falls in the water when he reportedly went under the surface and disappeared.

A party of police ranks and other persons went in search of Gladstone, but his body was not found. The search continued, and his body was found this morning.
