Investigators are probing the death of a so far unidentified man whose body was found on Sunday at the Hope Beach, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Police reported that at about 11:30h, a Mangrove Ranger alerted them that a human body was washed up at Hope Beach. Upon receiving the report, a police team headed by a Sergeant promptly responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, authorities found the body of a male, extensively decomposed and lying face up. The deceased was dressed in a cream and black striped jersey and cream underwear.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition, no visible signs of violence could be detected upon initial examination.
The body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Mortuary, awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Despite questioning several individuals in the area, the police have not yet gathered any substantial information regarding the identity of the man or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
