Body of woman found floating in trench at Eccles Dumpsite Road

A partially decomposed body of a female was discovered floating in a trench along the Eccles dumpsite road on Saturday afternoon.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said it responded to a call received at approximately 15:00h from the 911 hotline, reporting the sighting of the body.

Upon arrival, police ranks found the body of a female, believed to be of mixed ancestry and between the ages of 30 and 40, floating face-down in the trench.

The victim was clad in long black tights, a grey armless top, and one slipper. The body exhibited signs of decomposition, with the face appearing swollen.

Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) examined the body and observed what appeared to be blood and water flowing from the nostrils. No visible marks of violence were detected on the body, Police stated.

The body was subsequently retrieved from the trench and transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it will remain pending identification and a post-mortem examination. The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
