Bus driver, 38, killed in early morning Friendship accident
A 38-year-old minibus driver died on Saturday morning after he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with another minibus on the Friendship Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Dead is Keyon Harvey of Lot 254 Grove Squatting Area. The accident occurred at about 05:40h.
Police said that minibus BVV 1137, which Harvey was driving, was proceeding south along the eastern side of the Friendship Public Road at high speed when he lost control and swerved onto the western side of the road and collided with minibus BAC 950, which Paul David, 52, drove.
As a result of the collision, both vehicles were extensively damaged, and both drivers, along with the passengers, received injuries.
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) were summoned, and the injured persons were examined. However, Harvey was pronounced dead at the scene.
The injured passengers and David were taken to Diamond Diagnostic Centre for medical attention. They were all treated and sent away. Investigations are ongoing.
