Businessman nabbed with 8.3lbs of cocaine at Springlands ‘backtrack service’
A drug bust on Monday has led to the arrest of a 44-year-old businessman following the discovery of cocaine at the Eno Backtrack Service in Springlands, Corentyne, Berbice.
The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers conducted a targeted narcotics operation at the location, uncovering a black suitcase with concealed compartments.
Inside, they found cocaine. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Lennox Gowen, of Lot 572 Avocado Street, Ruimveldt, also known by the alias “Nunkie.”
Gowen was immediately detained and transported to CANU’s headquarters along with the seized narcotics. The cocaine, when weighed, amounted to 3.8 kilogrammes.
