Campbellville man accused of stealing gun, ammo granted bail

A man from Campbellville, Georgetown, who has been a security personnel for over three decades, is facing charges of theft of firearm and ammunition.
59-year-old Dennis Cogswell appeared before Senior Magistrate Leroy Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied the charges when they were read to him.
The charge alleged that on May 12, 2024, at Charlotte Street, Georgetown, he stole a Glock 17 pistol with 15 live rounds of ammunition, the property of Edward B. Beharry and Company Limited.
Cogswell’s attorney, Patrice Henry, asked the court to grant his client reasonable bail since his client had never been in trouble with the law. Ultimately, the 59-year-old man was granted $100,000 bail, and the case was adjourned to June 21, 2024.
