CANU officers seize submachine gun in Norton Street operation
Ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Sunday intercepted a male on Norton Street, Georgetown, and allegedly found a submachine gun in his backpack.
In a brief statement, CANU said that acting on the intelligence received, its ranks went to the location and intercepted the male. A search was conducted on the backpack he was carrying, and a 9mm submachine gun and a matching magazine were discovered.
The suspect was arrested and transported to CANU’s Headquarters, along with the seized firearm. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the individual.
