“Chucky” confesses to killing Better Hope pensioner

Godfrey Gill, also known as “Chucky,” has admitted to August 21, 2016, killing of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) businessman David Ramkissoon, during the course of a robbery.
Gill, 27, formerly of Prince William Street Plaisance, ECD appeared before Justice Simone Ramlall at the Demerara High Court for murder but opted to plead guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.

He admitted that on August 21, 2016, Gill unlawfully killed Ramkissoon. Sentencing has been deferred until March 24, 2022.
Gill is represented by attorney-at-law Dexter Smartt, while the State is represented by prosecutor Caressa Henry. Gill’s co-accused Sherwin is currently on remand awaiting his High Court trial.
Based on previous reports, Ramkissoon, also known as “Short Man,” a father of five, was found with his throat slit lying in a pool of blood in the living room of his home.
It was reported that the gruesome discovery was made by the man’s son, who had just returned home after a creek outing with family.
