CJIA storms to victory in tape ball competition; Patentia Secondary wins school boys event

The CJIA tape ball team took away the top prize in last weekend’s knock-out tape ball competition while the Patentia Secondary School team won the School boy’s tournament.

The GTT Sponsored Inter Ministries/Government Agencies/Community Knock-out tape ball cricket competition came to an end on Saturday, March 19th on the Durban Park Tarmac.


In the super 6 overs, eight-a-side competition; the CJIA team defeated GGMC to win the GTT trophy.


They also went away with $100,000 in cash while GGMC got the runner-up trophy and $60,000.


GGMC batted first and scored 66 runs for five off their six overs to which CJIA replied 73 runs to win the final match.


In the Inter-Secondary Schools tape ball competition played earlier that day at the same venue, Patentia Secondary School stormed to victory.


A total of six school teams competed in the 4-overs knock-out tournament.


Patentia defeated the North Georgetown Secondary to take home the Sports Ambassador Trophy and medals.


The next major tape ball competition is the PKF Barcellos, Narine and Company knock-out tape ball event, set for Easter weekend.
