Clonbrook man remanded on gun, ammo charges
Kester Ward, a 36-year-old miner, was remanded to prison on two charges: illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition.
The charge against Ward states that on December 27, 2022, at Melanie Market Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), he had one .32 H&R Magnum Revolver in his possession without being the holder of a firearm licence.
It is further alleged that on the same day, at the same location, he illegally had four live rounds of .32 ammunition.
Ward of Clonbrook, ECD, pleaded not guilty to the charges when it was read to him by Magistrate Fabio Azore in the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court. He was remanded, and the case was adjourned to January 20, 2023.
Reports are that on the day in question, ranks acting on information received went to Melanie Market Road and conducted a search on the miner.
The illegal gun and ammunition were found during the search of his person.
