Columbian national gets bail on gun, ammo charges

A 45-year-old Columbian national who was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition was granted bail on Tuesday.

Favsto Cesaer Valdez made another court appearance before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.

The charge against the 45-year-old foreign national is that on August 9, 2022, at Goat Farm, Ituni Trail, Upper Demerara River, he had a firearm without being a licence holder.

It is further alleged that on the said date and address, he illegally had .223 ammunition without being the holder of a firearm licence.

He was granted $250,000 bail on the illegal possession of firearm and $200,000 on the ammunition charge. The matter was adjourned to January 10, 2023, for report and disclosure.

His condition for bail is that he reports to the Mackenzie Police Staton every last Friday of the month.
