Conspiracy to traffic cocaine charge dismissed against former national cyclist

The conspiracy to traffic cocaine charge against former national cyclist, Tyrone Hamilton has been dismissed.
Magistrate Clive Nurse handed down the decision in the Diamond/Grove Magistrates’ Court following a letter from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) withdrawing the charge.
Hamilton turned himself over to CANU on May 4 after a wanted bulletin was issued for him in relation to a $64 million drug bust at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).
The cocaine, which weighed 71.2 kilograms and was valued at $64 million, was found in two suitcases intended for a British Airways flight. The former national cyclist was subsequently charged and remanded to prison.
Apart from Hamilton, a wanted bulletin was issued for Gavin McKie.
