Construction worker attacked, stabbed to death by man in La Parfaite Harmonie

A 19-year-old construction worker was on Wednesday stabbed to death after being attacked by an identifiable male at Independence Drive in the vicinity of Third Avenue, La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

The dead man has been identified as Chrisgaichan Narine, also known as “Boyo” of 137 Recht-Door-Zee, WBD. He was stabbed at about 16:50h.

Reports are that Narine and his uncle Gansham Singh, 23, were heading home on a bicycle when the suspect approached them from the opposite direction on an electric bike.

According to the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the suspect attacked the construction worker.

It was noted that Singh ran away, leaving his nephew to scuffle with the suspect, who then wiped out a pair of scissors.

“The suspect is alleged to have dealt the 19-year-old two stabs - one to the lower abdomen and another to the left shoulder - after which he made good his escape on the said electric bike,” the CCU said.

The uncle then picked up the bicycle to take the victim to the station, but the 19-year-old collapsed on the road. The uncle then rode his bicycle to the station and reported the matter to the Police.

A Police vehicle went to the scene, where the victim was picked up and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. He was admitted as a patient but succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.

The CCU explained that a further investigation into the matter resulted in several persons being questioned, and specific information was received, including the suspect’s correct name and address.

Meanwhile, the teenager’s body was escorted to Ezekiel Funeral Home, awaiting a Post Mortem Examination (PME). Investigations are ongoing.
