Construction worker wanted for armed robberies, rape arrested

More than a year after evading capture, Dexter McDonald, who was wanted by the police for a series of armed robberies and rape, was arrested at Belfield, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Friday.
In a statement, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that ranks, acting on information received, went to Belfield and intercepted a motor car bearing registration number PAD 1112 and driven by a 45-year-old contractor.
The front passenger seat was occupied by McDonald, a 31-year-old construction worker also known as ‘Labba.’ McDonald, of Lot 73 Middle Walk, Buxton, ECD, had been the subject of a wanted bulletin issued in March 2023.
The bulletin was related to a series of robberies and rape cases. Following his arrest, McDonald was escorted to the Cove and John Police Station, along with the vehicle’s driver, who was also apprehended for harbouring a wanted fugitive.
They both remain in custody as the investigation continues.
