Consultant dies days after he was stabbed during row over name-calling
Andray Wilson, 47, a consultant attached to the Ministry of Health, has succumbed to his injuries days after a dispute led to a stabbing incident in Victoria South, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Police confirmed that Wilson’s death has now escalated the wounding investigation to a murder probe.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 17:00h on October 24, 2024, reportedly began as a verbal confrontation between Wilson, also known as ‘Puchie,’ and a taxi driver.
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the dispute arose over Wilson allegedly calling the suspect by an incorrect name, which quickly escalated into an argument.
The altercation ended with the taxi driver allegedly stabbing Wilson with a knife. Wilson, a resident of Middle Walk, Victoria, was rushed to a nearby medical facility but, despite efforts to stabilise him, later succumbed to his injuries.
The taxi driver involved in the incident remains in police custody as the probe continues.
