Cummings Park man, 73, found dead in home

The motionless body of Norman Vieira called ‘Peter,’ of Lot 116 Section ‘E’ Cummings Park, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was found on Wednesday in his bedroom.

Vieira’s neighbour made the discovery and informed law enforcement officials that the pensioner lived alone in his two-bedroom wooden structure. She also said that the elderly man has no known relatives and was a patient of the cardiology clinic at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

He was last seen alive at about 19:00h on Tuesday at his door. The Police arrived on the scene, and Vieira’s body was found lying motionless on his bed in one of the bedrooms of his house.

He was clad in brown and white stripe boxers, and the body was examined for marks of violence, but none was seen. The body is lying at Sandys Funeral Parlor, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
