Decomposed body discovered at abandoned house on Essequibo Coast
Police in Region Two are investigating the discovery of a decomposed body found on Monday morning in an abandoned house at Henrietta.
The grim discovery was reported at about 09:40h by a 64-year-old resident of Henrietta, who told police he noticed a foul odour emanating from an abandoned house just north of his yard.
Upon investigation, the man discovered the decomposing body of a male covered in flies and worms.
The resident immediately reported the matter to the Anna Regina Police Station, and ranks went to the scene.
Upon arrival, the officers observed that the body was approximately 60 per cent decomposed.
The body is at the Suddie Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the man had no fixed place of abode, and efforts are being made to identify him.
