Driver, 25, loses control, crashes into truck on Timehri Public Road

A 25-year-old driver, who was reportedly speeding, has died after he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a truck on the Timehri Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD). 


The dead driver has been identified as 25-year-old Suresh Singh of Hill Foot, Soesdyke-Linden Highway. 


According to reports, Singh was driving PAG 9078 when he crashed into motor lorry GAD 8492, which was driven by Terry Duff, a 45-year-old Trinidadian.


The Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that motor car PAG 9078 was proceeding south along the Timehri Public Road at a fast rate at around 06:30h when Singh lost control and drove into the path of the lorry, which was proceeding in the opposite direction. 


As a result of the collision, both vehicles were extensively damaged, and the driver of the car received injuries on his body. 


He was subsequently picked up by public-spirited citizens, and placed into a passing vehicle, which was escorted by the Police to Diamond Diagnostic Center, where Singh was pronounced dead on arrival.


Singh’s body was escorted by the Police to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination with dissection. 


A breathalyser test was conducted on the truck driver, and no trace of alcohol was found in his breath, police said.
