Duo accused of stealing goat, cow granted bail
Matthew Hugh, a 20-year-old resident of Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara (ECD), and Royan Roberts, called ‘Pooksie,’ of Nabaclis, have been charged with stealing a goat and cow.
The duo appeared before Magistrate Peter Hugh in the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court but were not required to plead to the charge.
The charge, which is larceny of a goat, was laid contrary to Section 175 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 08:01. Hugh and Roberts were granted $150,000 bail, and the case was adjourned to March 27, 2024.
Meanwhile, Roberts was further charged with larceny of cattle contrary to Section 176 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 08:01.
He was granted $75,000 bail, and the case was also put down to March 27, 2024. Residents of Enmore, Haslington, Nabaclis, and Golden Grove have been complaining to the Police about the loss of their cattle and goats for several weeks.
