Duo slapped with unlawful wounding charge remanded to prison

A duo was on Wednesday remanded to prison after being slapped with a charge of unlawful wounding.

Terrence Parks and Michala Matthias were hauled before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The charge stated that on September 2, 2021, at Kitty Public Road, the duo unlawfully and maliciously wounded Kevin Sutton with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable, and to cause actual bodily harm.
According to the court prosecutor, both accused, and the victim are known to each other and on the day in question, the trio was engaged in an argument.
A scuffled ensured and Parks, who was armed with a plank of wood and cutlass and Matthias who was armed with a knife dealt Sutton several chops about his body.
The virtual complaint was hospitalized for a few days but was later discharged. However, he began to get seizures and was readmitted to the medical facility in a critical condition.
The duo was remanded to prison and is expected to return to court on February 28.
