Ex-convict confesses to killing Corentyne welder over alleged affair

An ex-convict has reportedly confessed to the murder of Joshua Hardatt, also known as ‘Money,’ a 25-year-old welder from Lot 371 Bloomfield Village, Corentyne.


The Guyana Police Force (GPF) had disclosed to the media that two suspects were arrested and were being interrogated.


During the interrogation, one of the suspects, who is an ex-convict- accused the late welder of having an affair with his wife while he was incarcerated. He confronted Hardatt, who denied the allegation, and it was then that the suspect dealt the 25-year-old welder several blows to his body.


Hardatt was found dead at Auchlyne Cultivating Dam, and police said he was murdered sometime between May 21 and May 22.


Initial investigations revealed that Hardatt left his residence in his car on May 21, 2024, and his family received a call the following day informing them that his vehicle was spotted on Auchlyne Cultivating Dam.


Upon being informed, the police visited the scene and found Hardatt’s lifeless body in the back passenger seat of his car. He was lying face down in a crouching position, with visible marks of violence on his face and forehead and a wound on the back of his head.
