Farmer arraigned for murder of Wairuni logger
A 24-year-old Farmer was on Monday charged with the murder of 19-year-old Selmon King, a logger of Wiruni, Upper Berbice River.
Corrwin Walker, of Kimbia, Upper Berbice River, was arraigned before Magistrate Wanda Fortune via Zoom in the Linden Magistrate’s Court and was not required to plead to the indictable charge. He was remanded to prison until October 24, 2022, for report.
MTV News Update previously reported that King and his cousin Shane Osborne went to a friend’s home and began drinking alcoholic beverages after attending a wedding celebration.
While there, the duo allegedly witnessed an argument between Walker and two other males over the ownership of a cutlass.
Osborne intervened, and Walker pushed him into a canal, where he attacked him with a cutlass and dealt him several chops about his body, severing his left hand.
As he began to scream in pain, King rushed to his defence, but he too was attacked and chopped about the body. He collapsed and died before being taken to the Hospital.
18-year-old Osborne was taken to the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital, where he was admitted in a critical condition.
