Fatal stabbing at West Bank: Autopsy confirms woman died from stab wound to heart

A post-mortem examination conducted on the body of 29-year-old Alexis Roxanne Harris has confirmed that her death was caused by a stab wound to the heart.

The examination, carried out on Monday by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh, was witnessed by the police and Harris’ sisters, Abiola and Natasha Harris.

Following the examination, Harris’ body was handed over to her relatives for burial.

Harris, a farmer of Hill Foot, Linden-Soesdyke Highway, was fatally stabbed by her estranged partner, 35-year-old James Lord, at her sister’s residence in Free and Easy, West Bank Demerara (WBD) on Sunday.

Harris, known as ‘Cullie,’ had left the abusive relationship two months prior, seeking refuge at her sister’s home with their children after Lord allegedly assaulted her and threatened to kill her.

On the day of the fatal attack, Lord visited the residence to see his children. Tensions escalated when he became enraged, broke Harris’ cell phone, and followed her outside, where he stabbed her repeatedly with a knife he had in his haversack.

Despite an attempt by Lord’s nephew, Junior Lord, to intervene, Harris was fatally wounded in the heart and right hand.

She collapsed in a nearby drain, where she succumbed to her injuries. Junior also sustained a stab wound during the confrontation and was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
