Fire of unknown origin guts Selina Resort at Kitty Seawalls
A fire of unknown origin gutted the Selina Resort, located at the Kitty Seawalls, Georgetown, leaving vagrants displaced.
According to the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the fire started at about 17:00h on Sunday.
“On the above-mentioned date, place, and time a traffic rank was on duty at the Kitty roundabout when he observed smoke emanating from the compound of Selina Resort and saw six men running out from the compound,” the CCU said.
Investigations revealed that the affected building is a condemned two-storied concrete structure, which vagrants occupy. The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) was summoned and extinguished the fire.
“The six men were detained, interviewed, and denied setting fire to the building and have subsequently been released as investigations continue,” the CCU concluded.
