The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has launched an investigation into a horrific accident that occurred on the Land of Canaan Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD), on Sunday night, claiming the lives of two men.

Dead are 22-year-old Ronaldo Gordon of Lot 354 Timehri North, EBD, and 23-year-old Joel Sutherland of Lot 94 Timehri North.

The accident occurred at about 23:00h, and according to the GPF, Gordon was behind the wheels of motor car PAD 7677 while Sutherland was seated in the front passenger seat.

Based on reports, the car was proceeding north along the western drive lane of the Land of Canaan Public Road at an alleged fast rate when Gordon lost control.

As a result, the vehicle ended up in the eastern drive lane and collided with a concrete bridge rail on the side of the road.

The car was extensively damaged, and both the driver and occupant were thrown out of the vehicle, where they received injuries on their bodies.

They were then picked up by passersby, placed into a motor vehicle, and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where they were both pronounced dead on arrival.
