President Irfaan Ali has assured vendors of the Mon Repos market that they will be compensated for the losses they encountered as a result of the protest along the East Coast of Demerara today. The President made this announcement on Tuesday afternoon while meeting with residents from the East Coast.
Scores of vendors expressed their frustration with being robbed and are left counting millions of dollars in losses after “protestors” looted their stalls at the market.
The President posited that everyone who used the protest for their own selfish gain will face the consequences of the law.
The protest erupted after a popular social media agency made a post stating that the cop who was under close arrest for the fatal shooting of Quindon Bacchus had been released. However, the rank remains under open arrest.
