Gold miner arrested with fake U.S. visa claimed he got it from female he met online

A 58-year-old gold miner was apprehended on Sunday after he attempted to leave Guyana with a fake United States of America (USA) visa on his phone.

The man has been identified as Lyndon Forbes Austin of Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara (WCD).

MTV News Update understands that the man arrived at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) and produced his passport for an American Airlines staff member.

The American Airlines staff asked the gold miner for his visa, which he showed on his phone. He was informed that he could not travel and was handed over to the Police.

Austin told authorities he met a female online last November and started communicating via Facebook Messenger. The female has been identified as ‘Nancy Jessica Belinda.’

He added that Belinda invited him to the U.S. and told him she would acquire his visa. As such, she reportedly sent him a fake visa and a ticket to Miami.
