Golden Arrowhead flown at half mast at Prime Minister's residence


Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the ll was today laid to rest, and Guyana’s President Irfaan Ali, proclaimed September 19 as a day of mourning.


MTV News Update visited several public agencies where the Golden Arrowhead was flown at half- mast.





Apart from that, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, Gail Teixeira attended the deceased queen’s funeral service at Westminster Abbey. She is representing Guyana. She is joining more than 2000 officials from around the world.


Importantly, several officials including President Irfaan Ali and Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Philips earlier this month signed the book of condolences for the Queen, which was open at the home of the British High Commissioner.


President Ali had said the passing of the Queen marked the end of an era.


The Queen died at the age of 96 on September 8. She was the longest reigning British Monarch having recently celebrated her 70th anniversary or Platinum Jubilee.


Queen Elizabeth 11’s body now lies beside her husband Prince Philip who passed away in 2021.
