The Guyana Tourism Authority will in a matter of weeks launch its online training portal’. With this online portal the Tourism Authority will be able to conduct training without face to face interaction.
GTA Director, Kamrul Baksh shared preliminary details about this portal at an event held at the Herdmanston Lodge earlier this week.
According to Baksh this move can see the cost of training being reduced over time.
“We will be launching our training portal in a matter of weeks so that persons who cannot come to the banquet hall or the conference centre would be able to access these services via the training platform,” the Director announced as he received loud applause from the audience.
He added “once that is done we will make training more affordable and accessible to all corners of the tourism and hospitality sector of Guyana.”
Upon completion of the training, stakeholders are issued a certificate.
The GTA will then make impromptu visits to the various businesses that have been issued this certification to observe whether the services they are delivering are in line with the GTA’s standard.
This year, the GTA is looking to train approximately 3000 tourism industry personnel in various fields including customer service, mixology (bartending), and wilderness first responder training.
Business owners and operators who wish to partner with the GTA and are looking to have their staff trained can contact the Training Department on 592-219-0056.
