Promoting and improving trade among Caribbean countries such as Barbados will now be easier as the Guyana Office for Investment on Tuesday signed an agreement of investment with Invest Barbados and Export Barbados.
The signing of this agreement was done at the opening ceremony of the four days International Energy Conference and Expo which is being observed under the theme "CHARTING A SUSTAINABLE ENERGY FUTURE"
This agreement aims to promote and improve trade and investments among the two countries while boosting co-operation in support of trade and investment promotion activities.
President Dr Irfaan Ali and Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley had discussions where they committed to enhancing trade and investment among the two countries.
A team from Barbados is currently in Guyana attending the energy conference where they would be able to see possible areas of investment and co-operation and signal their interest.
The two Caribbean Heads of States had held talks that other possible areas of collaboration include those in the health and education sector.
Last October, a high-level team visited Guyana where they signalled their interest in investing in the construction and housing sector.
