Guyana scores against Suriname, draws with Guam in Round 8 of FIDE Olympiad


In Round 8 of the ongoing FIDE Chess Olympiad, Guyana's Open team scored 1.5 against Suriname while the Women made two draws against Guam.


CM Taffin Khan drew his match with Surinamese FM Giasi Viresh while FM Anthony Drayton was victorious over CM Romario Sanches to earn a point for the Open team.


They are set to face Burundi in Round 10.


On the Women's side, 12-year-old Anaya Lall drew her match with Guam's Jasmine Ramas.


In a five-hour tense battle, Guyana's Sasha Shariff earned a draw against Ruth Nacario, despite her opponent holding a winning position throughout the endgame.


The Women now prepare to play against Timor-Leste.
